Location
PortMiami sits on Dodge Island in Biscayne Bay, linked to downtown Miami by bridge. Billed as the “Cruise Capital of the World,” it is the busiest cruise port anywhere and the primary departure point for Caribbean itineraries.
How to Arrive
- Miami International Airport (MIA) is about 13 km (roughly 20–30 minutes) from the port.
- Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood (FLL) is an alternative, about 45 km north.
- Taxis, rideshare, cruise-line transfers and the Metromover (downtown) serve the area.
Cruise Terminal & Getting Around
- PortMiami has multiple numbered/lettered terminals, including flagship terminals for the major lines; your cruise line confirms which one to use.
- Downtown Miami, Bayside Marketplace and the Brickell district are minutes away.
- South Beach and Ocean Drive are a short drive across the causeway.
What to See
- South Beach & Ocean Drive — Art Deco architecture and beaches.
- Bayside Marketplace — waterfront shopping and boat tours.
- Little Havana — Cuban culture along Calle Ocho.

Shopping & Food
Bayside and the Brickell City Centre cover shopping; Lincoln Road on South Beach is a pedestrian mall. For food, Miami is strong on Cuban (try a cortadito and a Cubano sandwich) and Latin American cuisine.
