Location
Çeşme sits at the tip of a peninsula on Türkiye’s Aegean coast, about 80 km west of İzmir. Çeşme Marina sits right below the Genoese castle in the centre of town, steps from the harbour, shops and restaurants.
How to Arrive
- İzmir Adnan Menderes (ADB) is about 80 km away, roughly an hour by road on the motorway.
- The marina is in the town centre; nearby Alaçatı is about 10 km inland.
The Marina
Çeşme Marina is an upscale marina and lifestyle quarter with berths for large yachts, boutiques, cafés and waterfront dining, set against the restored town castle.
Nearby highlights
- Alaçatı — a photogenic village of stone houses, bougainvillea-draped lanes, boutique hotels and some of the region’s best restaurants.
- Çeşme Castle & Museum — the 16th-century fortress overlooking the harbour.
- Ilıca & Altınkum beaches — shallow turquoise bays with fine sand.
- Thermal springs — Çeşme is known for its hot springs and spa hotels.
- Chios (Greece) — the Greek island is a short ferry hop across the strait.
Where to eat & drink
Alaçatı is the culinary heart: meze houses, Aegean herbs (think şevketi bostan and radika), fresh fish and the local kumru sandwich. Along the marina, seafood restaurants and chic cafés line the water. Don’t miss a long Aegean breakfast.
Things to do
- Windsurf or kitesurf at Alaçatı’s Çark/Alaçatı bay, a world-class flat-water spot.
- Browse Alaçatı’s Saturday market for herbs, cheese and produce.
- Soak in a thermal spa or swim at Ilıca.
- Take a boat trip or the ferry to Chios for a day.
Local tips
- Alaçatı and Çeşme are busiest (and priciest) in July–August; shoulder season is lovely.
- Currency is the Turkish lira; emergency number 112.
- A car or scooter helps for reaching Alaçatı and the quieter beaches.
