Location
Mykonos is one of the most popular islands in the Cyclades. Larger ships use the New Port (Tourlos), about 2 km north of Mykonos Town (Chora); smaller vessels tender to the Old Port, right beside the town.
How to Arrive
- Mykonos Airport (JMK) is about 4 km from Chora.
- From the New Port, a shuttle bus, local bus (KTEL), taxi or sea bus connects to Mykonos Town.
Cruise Terminal & Getting Around
- The New Port has tour desks, taxis and bus connections.
- Mykonos Town is pedestrian-only and deliberately maze-like — part of its charm.
- Buses serve the main beaches; sea buses (caïques) link beaches along the south coast.
What to See
- The Windmills (Kato Mili) overlooking the sea.
- Little Venice, where houses rise straight from the water — a sunset favourite.
- Paraportiani Church and the whitewashed alleys of Chora.
- Day trip to the sacred archaeological island of Delos (short boat ride).
- Beaches such as Paradise, Super Paradise, Psarou and Platis Gialos.
Shopping & Food
Chora is full of boutiques, jewellers and galleries. Try Greek classics — souvlaki, fresh seafood and the local cheese kopanisti — in the backstreet tavernas.
Local Tips
- The town’s lanes are confusing by design; note landmarks to find your way back.
- Currency is the Euro; emergency number 112.
- Mykonos can be windy — tenders may be affected in rough weather.
